I just got in a broken j serial that was on the bay last week. Much to my surprise, it also has the gold serial. It came from the UK
iphone doesnt take the best pics of serials, but you can see well enough

I wish we had a reason behind the gold serial but no matter. I love that mine has the gold serial!

Probably whoever worked on the serial number engraver on Tuesdays liked to use gold.
