M Frames- what's what??

Do the older lenses generally fit in the ‘new’ m frame? I had some aftermarket lenses that fit in them but don’t have any vintage Oakley lenses to try.

(somebody sell me some heaters to try 🙏 😊)

Sorry to hijack this thread but can anyone help identify what generation of m frames I have? Are they the M frame 2.0? I happened to stumble upon them at a Goodwill for cheap and the clear/grey lenses that were included with the case are in great shape. If anyone needs better pictures just let me know

It looks like a SI m frame with a ballistic lens clip and lens. Somewhat Frankenstein

It’s considered the “new m frame”

Thank you, that explains why I had such a hard time finding any info on them. So one more question would these lenses work with this frame then

A pair I bought off the bay came the same way, someone must have bought a clip and added it to be able to use different lenses, or maybe for a more secure hold?

It is actually not a Frankenstein model, Oakley produced these. That is Gen 1 of the Oakley Ballistic M frames. Issued to troops that went to the Middle East around 05-06 (possible sooner). It literally is just a regular M frame with the retainer clip. The frame design changed with the ballistic 2.0 and 3.0, but they kept the retaining clip.

I have one in front of me right now. My buddy was in Iraq in 2005 and they were issued.

Thanks for the info and insight! Everyone I asked thought they were frankensteined lol. Cool piece of history! May we see pics of yours with inner ear stems as well for comparison?
