Look a bit like a ropey Carbon in that light.

Can that carbon finish be brought back?

Sure it is a tarnished carbon that has picked up a pink/brown hue.

Yep, they were tarnished over time, they weren't brown @THE X-MAN
When they were brand new they looked like this one:

Found other pictures, you could probably tell on these that the condition it was in was not so great, even the original lenses were worn out pretty bad.
