Hey folks,

I've recently been gifted a beater Half Jacket (thanks @Ph03n1X !!)
This one:

I want to strip down the frame to do a custom paint job of my own.

Problem:
Does anybody know how to strip off the FMJ finish without sandblasting the frame?
It's beyond repair so definitely needs to come off

butterknife, a damp cloth and hot grease always worked for me
Serious?

Can you elaborate on the hot grease please? Is it just working to lubricate the surface while you go at it with the butter knife or does it serve to help chemically lift the FMJ finish?

No he’s not serious. Although @zcrxsi is usually full of useful information today he is apparently in a joking mood.

I recently tried to strip of those with my fingernails. Worked perfectly on the frame, but the paint on the stems did not Come off. Weird. 🙂
