A World of possibilities is on the horizon.

Oakley Motorsports is joining forces with Scuderia Ferrari, the most storied team in Formula 1 history, in what can be called a dream alliance, bringing together two iconic giants of their respective industries. This historic event marks Oakley Motorsports Division’s biggest global partnership thus far and will take effect for the 2014 F1 season (with Oakley as Scuderia Ferrari’s exclusive eyewear provider).

Oakley and Ferrari will share design philosophies, technical advances, inspiration and innovation over a multi-year period. The development also completes the ‘team,’ as team star driver, Fernando Alonso has been an Oakley team driver for the past two Formula 1 seasons.

More details to come…

For now, check out the official announcement images coming to you live from the Circuit of the Americas – U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, coming soon to the right side of this page (Oakley CEO Colin Baden and Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali).

Sweet!! cant wait for what Oakley would offer with the Ferrari line!

why does it matter who they partner with? Not going to change the fact that the new stuff is cheap chinese crap! low quality, high price, HUGE profits...Makes no difference what so ever. Kind of a slap in the face really. Only half attempt at making it look good would be to at least use the luxified Italian made shades, but that would narrow it to mostly female specific frames, and crap Acetate. Nothing special about this at all. And unless they bring back the elite status to the PB 2, it is still an overpriced half rate pair. Sorry for being the downer, but that is the actual reality to what is going on with the shades. Now the apparel, that's a whole different topic. Maybe some threads, or a killer accessory or bag line would be way cool.

It will be interesting to see where Oakley's licence fits into Ferrari's product range. Only eyewear is mentioned in the official announcement but, as Chop points out, will we also see Oakley/Ferrari clothing, shoes, bags, watches, accessories etc? I ask this question because other companies already hold licences with Ferrari in all of those areas, so it depends on how exclusive those current licences are, I suppose.

I wonder what product types the Oakley/Ferrari licence deal covers. Only time will tell.
