Oakley Penny X-Metal Ruby | FINALLY after 5 years of dreaming.

Ultimately blessed and grateful to have acquired these absolute killer sunglasses, which was only a mere fantasy for me to just see one i.r.l (let alone OWN it.)

Acquired them on eBay for $850 (unserialized....) Might have gone overboard for these, but I was unaware of Oakley Forum trading until after I bought them. 😪 Seller had specified them as 'New: Never Used' or something and upon receiving, the frames were in pristine condition.
- No scuffs ✅
- No marks ✅
- No dents ✅
- No cosmetic wear whatsoever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Held up pretty well for a pair originally purchased in 2001.

Lenses are 'Ruby' of course, but was never really a fan of them as it gave more of a 'Fire Iridium' tone to me.
I was taken aback by the Penny's size, as it did seem slightly smaller than what I'd expected (from reading product descriptions online). Sometimes they look small, sometimes they look just right on my face.

As an experienced X-Metal buyer, I already half-expected the nosebridge to be loose AF, and of course the rubber gaskets were disintegrating. Was not too pleased that the seller didn't mention about it. Had them sent to LG 🇯🇵 for service after that (superbly done, thank you LG!)

After that, I took the liberty of swapping the lenses out with LG's Penny Red Mirror Polarized lenses and I think they look a fair bit more spectacular now. 🙌View attachment 1042534View attachment 1042535View attachment 1042536View attachment 1042538View attachment 1042537

Great find.
I have Juliet Ruby and was planning to order LG Premium Red since they list them as Oakley Ruby Iridium alike, but now I will have to order Red Mirror also.

First things first: congratulations on your Penny! They are beautiful and I personally think they look good on you!

My personal is experience with taking pictures with sunglasses on, is that the pictures gets distorted , resulting that the glasses and lenses look sometimes smaller or bigger on our faces then in real life. What’s your view on that?

I also have a pair of Penny and Juliet’s, when I compare them side by side , the pennies are in my opinion much smaller in height the the Juliet’s. But when I put the pennys on and take a picture of myself I can make them look larger by getting closer to the camera and changing the angle, vice versa further away making them look smaller. But that’s how I see it, I don’t know your opinion on at or others here?

take good care of your pair now, they are a work of art en enjoy wearing them!

Hey FlexLe,
yes I do notice images of me wearing the pair can be distorted at times. Personally, I've found the Penny to unfortunately be just a TAD BIT narrow for my face. i.e I do wish there was a SLIGHTLY wider nosebridge so it would contour everything nicely.

but the overall fit thanks to the temple springs really keep the glasses in place regardless. Sometimes, you just have to get the right angle when taking pics, and it'll look killer. but i.m.o, a front face shot wouldn't be particularly aesthetic for my case atm hahaha
