My understanding is that Lens crafters uses warm water and Dawn dish soap for the cleaning of their lenses….at least in the one store a friend worked at for years.I wouldn’t use dawn dish liquid. It’s very harsh.
What materials are typically used in lenses made for prescriptions and what not? I'd imagine it's typically glass with decent coating if used.My understanding is that Lens crafters uses warm water and Dawn dish soap for the cleaning of their lenses….at least in the one store a friend worked at for years.
Any examples of Dawn specifically damaging lenses?

Good points there - do you foresee any issues cleaning the frames with Dawn?No because I don’t use it lol. But it’s designed to be aggressive. I’m just stating specific that I wouldn’t use it. Some Oakley Lens delaminate just by looking at them wrong. Or running them under water in general. I’ve had both happen. I would be worried the aggressiveness of the soap over time would strip any coatings that are on the lens
Yup, seems that way to me too. Not to mention it does a great job stripping crude oil off of marine wildlife and waterfowl.Would never try it, but I’ve read in the past that if used to wash your car, Dawn would/could remove wax. That seems pretty harsh to me.
