Oakley Vs. Shotgun

Am I the only one who remembers the ad from the early '90's?

It was my avatar for a while.

Anyway, yes I posted the Revision video to show you how deceptive and inconclusive a shotgun test can be. The M Frame lens actually took a hit from the wad from the looks of it. I doubt choke came in to play, but depending on how the shotgun's forcing cone has been modified at that range the wad and cup may not have separated yet and kept the bulk of the load concentrated.

The Revision video also used a heavier load from the looks of it. The OP video was likely under an ounce of shot and the size of the pellets looks more like #8 or #9. As you increase the size of the pellets (decreasing number increases size of the pellet) you increase how much energy each one carries and the potential for damage. #6 is a game load, compared to the #7-9 which are generally more used for target (clay).

Long story short: Never trust durability tests done by the manufacturer. This includes Oakley. Not that I'm a hater, but you never know how set up to fail other brands may be in Oakley's tests.

While they are far from perfect (or failure), I think there is more than enough real world proof why I will stick with Oakley over another brand. Your chances are just better over all.

Most likely a 7.62x39 fragment given where he was on patrol.
