As discussed initially through a previous exchange thread and not wanting to hijack, I have taken a few shots of my 2 JB serial frames to show the variations between the polished frames as time has gone on. I do have a 3rd and will check this one when I get round to it. The earlier the frame it appears, is duller in appearance and it's finish is definitely more unrefined. The surface appears hammered in comparison to a newer frame, and like the early non her stem frames , shows a pitted surface in certain areas. They also appear to be slightly heavier than the newer frames, apparently due to the change in density as pointed out by @CarGuy - I was not aware of this so thank you for that. Any other input or info / opinions out there?
Serials are JB012239 and JB034544

Coincidentally, I was wearing JB032233 today (in the morning at least, too overcast since) and that is like your higher-numbered example too, smooth and unblemished.

JG008704 is similar in finish, my 2 5th gens a bit shinier but I just put that down to less time to tarnish. None are pitted like your earlier JB.

Most of the JB's I've owned have been the earlier models and all have had similar characteristics. I'll have to check my other JB and also my JG now you've mentioned that one. I never thought to inspect that. I do like the early ones I must admit!

I have JB005242 which looks like yours with the Ichiro Blue lenses.
Nice! Is that pair similar to the hammered/pitted finish as per mine? I've just remembered I've a JP frame with a 4 digit serial I need to inspect.

My 3 digit J B serial had a hammer to look it and my four digit JF serial has the same hammered looking finish that is very different than the current gen polished like you were saying.

Thanks for the input guys! As we suspected then ... The hammered finish has been lost to a more perfected polished frame over time. I also once owned an unserialised polished frame which had no blemishes whatsoever. It was almost too perfect to be true. I think my preference lies with the older style for sure.
