Prada Fix

Not Oakley, but figured I would post this here. My girlfriend handed me her pair of Prada's to fix. Each ear stem was missing a piece near the hinge point, which caused the ear stems to open really far, to the point of not being wearable as they don't "clamp" the head at all. The pieces in question are long since missing, so she didn't have them anymore. The model number was worn off of the inside, so I couldn't really reference to see what they looked like, so I set about to make some new ones as best as I could. I didn't bother looking it up either, as soon as she handed them to me, I already knew how I was going to fix these.
I'm assuming that those original pieces had two posts that fit into those two holes on the ear stems, most likely a gold metal plated piece.
The bad news is the gaps on each ear stem are different. Just a manufacturing error, I guess. In their "neutral" position of the spring hinge, one side was .030" and the other was .040". So, to make this more accurate, I used brass sheet, at a thickness of .010". One side has a thickness of 3 plates, the other has 4 plates.
I bonded the plates together, then to the ear stems. After, I did some shaping and relief cutting for the spring hinge. The ideal way would be solid brass bars, but that would require a lot of shaving and filing to get the thickness correct so due to the size and convenience, I just used the brass sheet and stacked them.

She got me a new pair of Prizm Polarized Titanium Savitars a few months ago, so I it's the least I can do for her. :)
