Interesting... Could you go into a bit more about what the orbitals should look like, and what's off about the hinges/stem shapes?

I'm getting into collecting these, but I need to learn from you guys how to spot fakes more efficiently.

by first look they seemed fake, its mainly how xmetals are sculped. it just looks as if they were a massed produced POS, IMO, if you look at those and a real pair its an easy way to spot them. Not all pairs are easy to spot fakes, but usually xmetals are due to the amount of effort it took to actually produce them. Which is why so few were made.

nah, its more hand smoothed vs mass produced. the design idea too is that no lines should be parallel. so, if you see “squareness” then start looking for other clues.

Compare the angle of the lower orbital break on the fake pair...

...to a gen pair.

Yes, the earstems fat tip is a big clue...eBay are full of fakes...not a Brazil only problem anymore!!!
