Removing Oil Rig Icons

Have you heard of anyone buying their Oakley icons off of ebay instead of getting them in store? It seems like in my area the chrome icons are harder to find.

I purchased some from an Australian ebayer, they claim to be authentic, we shall see, but I really like the Chrome icons but the stores in my area were completely out of them. I plan on using the suggestions here to heat up slightly and remove the icons and use the chrome ones when I get them in.

How do I tell if they are generation 1 or 2? I just recently bought them, but do I tell via the Made in USA stamp at all? Thanks.
