The first company can't make the etching (only flat surfaces). Waiting for reply of the second company.

Good news, very good news !!!!!!!!!!

Today I received an email from the second company and I had a phone call with them.
And voilà, they can make the X METAL etching.
They just need a vector GFX (eps or dxf) plus some lenses for testing.

My first steps using Adobe Illustrator (thanks to www.psd-tutorials.de) and I think the needed eps file for the laser etching is feasible.
I'm still searching a matching font and the eps needs some fine tuning.

I'm bidding on some VL lenses for testing and as soon as I have what I need, I will ask for a laser appointment.
As I said before, it's my first .eps file and no font matches the original etching.
So I have to edit every single letter by hand (width, height, position).
Sounds easy, just 6 letters and 1 space plus an unknown curve and unknown position of the whole thing.

Looks like you almost have it down. The M needs some tweaks. The middle part of the M needs to come down to the base of the letter and at that base it needs to be just a little wider than the the other two columns in the M. Can you post a example without the anchor points?

FYI Oakley made different etchings!
The upper picture is my OEM lens.
Remember, the etching is tiny, so you won't see the differences.
BTW ... last night I have won four VL lenses. $ 81,96 + shipping and I need two more pairs

I was going to mention I thought they may have changed the fonts a little, but I couldn't find another example of the M that didn't go down to the letter base. Both ways look cool anyway. Good luck on your lense shipment. My VL shipment is now a week over due. They had to resend my shipment yesterday. The first one may be lost.
