some of it has to do with the len's actual curvature. more curve generally means less red (cos the colors transition with the curve). the x-metal range all have 8.75 base curve, so uts harder to get a nice looking ruby, it has to be exceptionally red to look decent. but yeah your X-squareds are quite orange as rubies go..
But then how did the X-Metals of old get the nice red Ruby Iridiums? It seems that this orange thing was more of a recent thing. I recall the old school X-Metals having the nice deep red Ruby Iridiums.
