Searching For That Warm Glowing Glow

Hi All,

I'm about to upgrade my ageing Half Jacket XLJs to Flak Jacket XLJs. My favourite lens in the Halfs is the Titanium Iridium because I love the golden/yellow/brown tint it has that makes a sunny day look really hot, if you see what I mean! I prefer this kind of tint to the greyish shade of the Black Iridium.

At first I thought that simply going for a 'Contrast' rather than a 'Neutral' lens would give me this warm glow, but now I'm not so sure...can anyone advise? They don't seem to do a titanium lens for the Flaks, so is my only choice to go for Gold or maybe Bronze, or will all the contrast lenses give that same effect?

You might all go "duh, the colour of the lens is the colour of the tint", but I wasn't sure if it was as simple as that!

I know the Oakley site has the lens simulation, but....well, it's not all that realistic is it?!

Many thanks.

Gold Iridium would be a good choice, or VR28 Black Iridium.

I actually SWEAR by VR28 Black iridium. Both Gold and Vr28 vlack are better than Titanium iridium (ive used all 3 as dailies at some point).

Go Vr28 BLack iridium.. i promise you titanium iridium wont look nearly half as good after that. contrast wise, it makes titanium look washed out!

I am also a big fan of VR28. It sounds like just what you are looking for

There is a difference between vr28 and vr28 black iridium. i find vr28 to be a really specialised lens, best suited for low light conditions as its quite a light tint with no iridium coat. but for low-light i absolutely ABSOLUTELY prefer G30 above all else. it is the perfect cloudy-day lens. it actually makes everything crystal sharp!

Sorry, I think I meant VR28 black iridium (at's the stock lens on TI02 Juliet, right?) I didn't know there was a plain VR28...

I have a tungsten iridium for my radars! Vented Path, too!

what do you like about it? I still find VR28 black to be a better lens? imo of course.. maybe you could enlighten me to appreciate them more? i really want to.. they look nice haha

To be honest I haven't really tested VR28 Black Iridium but out of the lenses I've worn with increased contrast (OO +Red Polarized, Ruby Iridium, 24K Gold, Fire Iridium) these are my favorite. They work in a lot of different lighting conditions and are really easy on the eyes. I'm actually referring to Tungsten Iridium Polarized, just to clarify.

I am getting a Split Jacket with VR28 Black Iridium soon though, so I'll be testing those out and seeing how I like it.
