Done.
I haven’t let them off the lead in the woods since they were about 18 Months old.

Rabbits 🐇, Squirrels 🐿 , Foxes 🦊, even other dogs and they are off, mate!

They are totally fearless! (reckless?!)
Mine ran after Deer 2-3 time of course / thank god without success.
One time he was gone for 10min. Now that feels like 10h.
Now he learned that it's not worth it to run after something he cannot catch.

Good lesson, my dogs have encountered Cows 🐮 and Horses 🐴 and just wanted to have a tear-up with them!

Dikheads.

I can keep my dogs off lead about 99% of the time

as soon as they hear "eehhh" (like a buzzer), they freeze...

they stay on high alert, they're back legs start shaking uncontrollably, but they freeze...

They do good at the beach....

Nice to have that level of trust with your pooches.

Managed to get Ghost up to the Gold “Good Citizen Award” in the British Kennel Club but as soon as we venture out of that environment it is a different ballgame.

That “Eeehhh” noise and the Milan “Tsch” noise works wonders in most situations but the Prey drive in my two arse honkers means that I would need a ****** fog horn piping it out to snap them out of it! Lol

We have to go to Dutch for Beach so we go there once a year.
It's only 350Miles from where I live in Germany.
We love to go to the Dog Beach. The reaction from some of the Dog owners is priceless.
Chech. Wolfdog's are still fairly rare. There are only 800-1000 in Germany.
So, not too many people have ever seen one. The wolf-like appearance puzzles and sometimes worry's them.
My dog wants to play with every dog there is and especially loves small dogs.

That‘s excellent, buddy.

I was at a dog show a few years ago and there was a very rare high Wolf 🐺 content dog there, from a distance I though it was an actual Grey Wolf, I was a bit taken aback by it and was wary of it, still curiosity got the better of me.

I got closer and it was timid and a very cautious dog, so appearances can be very deceptive.

That's how we found this dog.
Our Jack Russell Terrier was already 15 and in no good condition.
My wife insisted on having a dog because I work from Mo.-Fr. 250km from home.
So we went to a Dog-Show. A Dog-Show with a least 1000 Dogs must be the max. stress you can apply to a dog.
But you are able to see how every breed of dogs behaves under such stress.
My wife wanted to look at Belgian Shepherd like law enforcement uses.
We quickly dismissed that breed. To hyper and wanting to please its owner all the time.
And then we came to the Wolf-Dogs.
Every Wolf-Dog was calm, quiet, well behaved or sleeping.
I was sold.
So we started reading everything there was to read about this breed.
Most of the articles have started with a warning.
If you never had a Wolf-Dog then this is not the breed for you.
Our Terrier died of a stroke 6 month's later.
And here we are 3 yeas later with a well balanced and behaved Wolf-Dog.
I have to admit, my dog forced me to become a better human.
This dog will only trust and follow you, if you are balanced.
A person with weak emotion like frustration, anger, impatient and so on he will not follow or trust.T hey also can not deal with injustice or being handled rough.
So yes some Wolf-Dog that never had or lost that trust in humans will go into a state being timid and overly cautious.

Sorry for so many words.

Sorry for so many words.

Don’t apologise, mate.

It is a good read and the words are all very true.

Dogs look for strong leadership, maybe not the Alpha Wolf thing but definitely look for guidance and respond well to it.

There is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners!
