Stripped Penny hinge screw: Update

Currently at the welders. After seeing the pair he was confident it is achievable. He did question the Titanium, stating it felt heavy for Titanium, it being a Titanium alloy was not a concern. Apparently the laser does the trick.

Will post the results in a few days.

Just returned with the pair, they were ultimately not welded. He attempted and said the piece kept snapping off, welder did doubt the composition of the titanium. He said a mere speck of titanium weld should be very strong. He also found the Penny's to be heavy for titanium.

He suggested trying a jeweler and to silver solder them

:(

i wonder if the pennys seem heavier since they are a smaller frame , and have a spring hinge mechanism.

And the fact that it's an alloy of five metals, not just titanium.

Which is probably why nobody's been able to weld them. Or get consistent results anodizing...

It cant be straight beta titanium or it wouldnt flow in the casting process, its probibly alloyed with silica and copper.
