Titanium Juliet Question

it looks like a really roughed up xmetal from that one picture. will wait for better shots to decide, but afaik most prototype frames were xmetal (first to be designed).

Actually the finish is different from X-metal. My x-metal XX has a consistent sandblasted finish. This one has what looks like a sand casted finish with the really rough stuff sanded down. That is the reason I thought it was a Titanium finish. After I scrubbed it down it looked pretty decent. The nose bridge is shot but once that's fixed then it would be a unique piece.

Do you know what would happen if I sent it to Oakley for a tune up?

yeah thats gen1 xmetal. its not even and very raw. the titanium colorway is much paler.

tuneup- risky. they MAY replace the frame which would suck. had happened before..

Nice find Mauka! I can meet with you one day to show you my Titanium frame...like everyone said, it has the "T" at the beginning of the serial to confirm. That way you can compare the differences. I may be interested in working out a deal with you if BriP or anyone else before me doesn't pan out. K-den!

Wish I knew this was unique before I sold it off LOL.

Actually, the numbering is pretty faint but that's the first thing I noticed when pulling it out of the bag. At first I thought it was a scratch but I got a magnifying glass and looked at it more closely.

I guess the prototype thing makes sense since there is no serial. Would have been more cool if this was proto #001 but I think #012 is pretty cool.

So do you guys think this is more rare than a Romeo?

If #012 Titanium Juliet is a prototype it presumably has no box or additional contents other than a microbag, and suggests maybe all the 70 different X Metal colourways could have an initial prototype prior to being released. These would be very specialist items and I would imagine the demand would be less than it would be for the production issue. I would personally not be interested in any, but I am just one collector and there could be others that would more appreciate this type of piece. In comparison though, I would say a perfect serial matching 04-111 Ti - Gold Juliet would attract more interest and a higher value than a rarer prototype, so the proto would likely be even less competitive against one of the three serial matching official Romeo releases.

^ rarer than a romeo? yes, since it is a prototype frame (technically, a beta frame... prototypes were all sculpted in other materials etc). and it most definitely is Xmetal, just the old type. but as a juliet, there are simply more around than romeos so its value is only o a serious collector.

i have just messaged phillip barber the juliet hoarder (lol) he has *029 if i remember correctly. will forward you the details mauka

Thanks. I contacted Mr Barber but since it's 10:45 PM where he lives I doubt I'll hear anything today. Hopefully he can give more insight to this pair. I'll take more pics but I have to wait til my wife comes home with the camera.

Another member messaged me that I might have the Holy Grail but who knows. I had a Joker Green M Frame. The only reason why it was rare was no one wanted a green frame. I have a Gascan that no one wants to trade for since it's one of Oakley's most popular styles and there are tons out there.

So far there only seems to be two of these. Perhaps others will pop up and I'm hoping someone from Oakley who knows what these are about comes forward to educate us.
