Valjoux 7750

The Valjoux 7750 is the workhorse of the automatic chronographs. It is an old movement that has been used in millions upon millions of watches in its various versions and is still going. It is not as special and relevant as it use to be as more companies are producing their own in-house movements that have amazing technical achievements and complications, but the Valjoux 7750 will always be a timeless movement because of its relative simplicity, ease of maintenance, low cost and abundantly available parts.

That is why there was a big mechanical movement resurgence after the quartz revolution. People rediscovered the artistry of mechanicals and the work that is required to produce them. And the world is that much better for it. While not as durable or cost effective or accurate as its quartz cousins, mechanicals just have that cool factor. Many sources that produce fakes can produce any part of the watch with pretty close accuracy, but no one has been able to reproduce high end movements such as from Patek, Lange, Jaeger or Vacharon.

There’s a huge market for fake. China should be famous for something else.
