What Is Happening To My Lenses?

There is no doubt that quality is not what it once was.

I have some peeling on the edges on a pair of BIP lenses for my Juliets. These are new old stock (4+ years old) and haven't been mounted or worn. It isn't visible when wearing them, but it was surprise when I opened the box to use them.

I believe exposure to various gases can do harm. Stuff that you wouldn't worry about - fragrance, perfumes, sprays, exhaust fumes etc.

That is kind of the point I am making. If iridium coating cannot not be made to be more durable or last as long as a cheap pair of 3m glasses without delicate care, maybe they should look at other options and quit using iridium coating. That is the point of R&D, to find out what works or modify what doesn't so that it does.

These two lenses are collectively less than 3 years of use, the the dismounted one being the more used. They get somewhere between 5 minutes and 10 hours a day.

I'm not too worried about some of my other pairs that look better after 8 or so years.

The loose one is a photochromic. Until I can strip it a bit it's in the case. The one in the frame is my daily pair, standard clear.
