WWII stuff

The only stuff I have from the war are a few of my Grandmother's things. She served in England, one of the few female officers and was with the first company of a new program created to oversee troop nutrition and dietetics. My grandfather (they married the Christmas following VE) served in 5 combat tours as a surgeon in the medical clearing corps, was with the first Americans to liberate a concentration camp, was in the Battle of the Bulge, landed on Omaha Beach somewhere around D+40.

My uncle and his plane

I don’t know if applies to the thread but here is my story
2012 while wondering(on vacation) in spain
the family wanted to go to san sebastian - the basque country
there I had the pleasure to meet an old man who let us stay at his place for a couple of days
his name is Joaquin Galvéz and he is a survivor of many wars including WWII
the 2 days at his place I was just at home listening at the stories while everybody else was out having fun
well I was having fun my own way
telling me how he lost his whole family , friends , how he had to emigrate to different countries to survive , and he didn’t miss any story about the nazis
I was in shock cause I never experienced war and I hope I never do
but he had the words to make feel scared
he mentioned that he wrote a book with all his experiences
the book is : tener 13 años en el 36
he gave me one of his books , his nurse wrote half a dedication and he finished with the other half

Is it give nryc?

Sadly not. But i still have a tons of stuff in France, given by family and people i met during all the period i had the opportunity to collect WW1 & WW2 militaria.
I lived in the Somme department ( near Péronne, Ovillers-la-Boisselle, Pozières etc. ), where one of the biggest battles of WW1 occurred.

My metal detector was my best friend. Ardennes forest, Normandie etc. That was some crazy experience and i can'T explain what i still feel now.

Incredible moments, incredible story.
