I'd imagine you send in whatever you're trading with the frame you're having serviced. He does his thing and sends your finished frame back.

But what if the thing you're trading is worth more than a single servicing? Like if I traded a pair of glasses worth $200 or something.

Have him paypal you the difference or get multiple pairs worked on. I'd probably cross that bridge when and if you come to it.
