Is there a protection that can be applied to the inevitable scratches to these pristine X metal frames? Laquer coat, or some shielding perhaps?

Which models do you have, mate?
You could always save them for “Best” and get wear pairs!
Failing that wear the stuff you have and if they deteriorate you can get a talented artist/customiser to refinish them and they will be like new again!
It is STILL a glorious time for X-Metals!
I asked the same for my Rx X Squared, basic summary was:
Don’t put them on surfaces harder than they are, and you shouldn’t really get any stratches.
