Yeah "useful" would be a post that actually contributes to the discussion, but that can be very subjective.
Basically the concept is to avoid having people join, make 15 "Hi!", "Those look cool!", or "Welcome!"-type posts (even worse when done on dead threads), get access to the exchange, buy or sell something, then are never heard from again...
