i just messed little with my name and my car model name: Stavros car: Ford Focus ST so came out STavros
IDK. I just prefer my own username.

Well, just remember, whatever you change it to, you're stuck with that for at least three months...

This idea got me thinking (ouch it hurts
). This could be an issue for several reasons.
1) If say @kronin323 (I use him as an example because I'd bet he has the highest number of informative posts) were to change his username, it would be much more difficult to search for a particular post by username. Especially if he were to use multiple names.
2) If @kronin323 (sorry, I'm sticking with it
) were to use a different name and then someone wanted the use his old name the confusion would be great. I know the chances of someone using the exact same name is low but possible. What if @OakleyBoss vacated his name...
3)Tagging someone who has recently changed their name won't work.

Is there already a function preventing duplicate identical usernames? I guess so?
Wouldn't a username change apply retroactively to all past posts, like avatar changes do? In that case for searches you'd only need to know the current username.
I was thinking of changing to my porn star name, Randy Bare, but probably not...Similar threads
