    I believe it's so the enemy do not see that shiny iridium coating from a few miles away in the desert. The non-iridium lenses won't have that mirror finish and easily give away the soldier's location.

    That makes sense, I wonder why not dark grey or grey though. I personally like warm grey cause it kinda works for cloudy and sunny day

    Mirror lenses are not APEL approved, but neither are frames other than black.
