Oakley Gearbox......question?

I just won a used Gearbox off Ebay for I think a great price. It has been worn and from a pawn shop but it does come with box also. Anyway what type of metal is the body of the watch? The top has some surface scratches and I am wondering if I could polish them out....

Website says it's brushed stainless steel?
