Royal Lion Museum Sunglass Convention I: Eyeshade ........ AKA A Oakley Meetup lol May 7

While waiting for others to post their good pics, thought I'd post my crappy pics to tide y'all over...

First up, leQ...

Presentation of the gifted R1...

Trying my OTT...

And trying one of supersharp's Pennys...

Next, a selection from the Royal Lion Museum...

Three C6s, all prototypes...

In front of the prototype aluminum C6 are two examples of the aluminum orbital front in different stages of milling...

20160507_153942.jpg

And then a one-of-a-kind gascan made out of carbon fiber left over from the C6 production...

20160507_154009.jpg

Three OTTs. The left is a Dr. Chop job IIRC and the center done by some artist who's name I can't remember. The matte clear one on the right is a 3D-printed OTT prototype. It used to be displayed in one of the stores, without lenses. Joseph had HQ make photochromic lenses for them (which is its own story), which he'd never actually tested before that meetup; in the pic you can see them darkened from that test...

A couple of larger collection shots...

20160507_171636.jpg

And then a pic of the mirror reflection of us standing around listening to Joseph talk about the stuff. As you can see, Hog was entranced...

Some other collection pics...

Hog has reduced his collection down to what he actually wears. Which is this...

What gameforce brought...

20160507_171657.jpg

Our guest from Germany brought these for sale or trade...

What supersharp brought; I again caught Hog in a Kodak moment...

20160507_171725.jpg

i am rich's display, just after he started packing up...

I'm curious about the Livestrong C Six. Is it marked prototype? I thought they only made 5 for sale?

This is a true Prototype directly from the engineer who made the Elite line. There are 5 numbered Livestrong C6s (I also have #1 of 5) and this Prototype. The Prototype case is different than the released version, and the Prototype Glasses have black springs in the arms for folding instead of the final Yellow version in the released version. Only 4 really were made available for sale, as #1 was kept to let Lance Armstrong use in the race. The 3 C6 Prototypes all have "Prototype" stamped literally into the Rubber Armpieces, and have no number.

The prototype is on the left and the released version on the right. The lenses were finally installed into the prototype when I brought them to the MeetUp Saturday.

Any other C6s that float around that are claimed to be Prototypes, are actually "Pre-Production" pairs. These are the only 3 original Prototypes.

I am not doubting you or your story. I just never heard of a prototype (like much of Oakley I don't know). Thank you for sharing this knowledge and the picture.

Why, Mr. Anderson? Why, why, why do you persist?"
