Won these on Ebay auction last night

Congrats Bro.🤙

They’ve arrived.

Glasses definitely need a retighten at the nose bridge, to be expected. Pretty sure the frame is titanium, though without a serial number and next to a plasma difficult to tell on its own.

The vault needs a bit of love, the Oakley emblem is pretty faded. 0000 steel wool with wd 40 suggested in another thread to bring back alive. Any other suggestions?

With these I now have a (very small) collection!

Won these on Ebay last night for £300/$380, think I may have overpaid by £25 or so but I wanted the vault really. Not great light in the pictures but they look like plasma frames with Ice lenses.

Bit of confusion over the vintage, seller claims to have bought them in ~2001, however there is no serial number. They were refurbed in 2015 with an Oakley approved agent. I am wondering whether the guy is just misremembering and actually bought them in 2007, unlikely. Or whether they were swapped out for some unserialised ones during the refurb. The guy does state that the left arm feel different to the right arm so perhaps someone had filed it away, which is a lot of effort for no gain, plus no obvious damage on the arm.

So with removing the vault I probably paid £200 - £220 ($250- $280) for them, which may be a bit high. What do you guys think?

The lack of serial number only came out on the last day of the auction, so a lot of the previous bids were based on the serialised frames, I could have pulled out but like I said I wanted the vault. These will be my second pair to go with my 1st Gen X-metal Rubys, so a nice little compare and contrast, though there are cheaper ways to do that admittedly!

clearly your not too knowledgeable about xmetals brother. those are def plasma, 100 percent. looks to be gen 2.

gen 4 were non sku, but i think based on finish they look like earlier versions.

well, not much knowledge required if there was a sku, therefore definitely gen 4, I’m afraid.

But thanks for your comment.

Don't think they were ever likely to be Titanium (unless someone had swapped an arm/rubbed out the serial number-unlikely) as all Ti Frames were serialized iirc?

Either way not a bad price as the Vaults with good foam are about £125-£150 Value wise.

Not a bad pick up at all.

Thanks for the valuation, happy with that!

The interesting thing is, the guy I bought them from swears he bought them in 2001, he claimed that the left arm looks different and thought were were filed off, potentially at a 2015 service. I thought that was unlikely as well what would the gain of doing that be. Having them in my hand, the left arm does look subtly different to the right. So who knows.

My original thought was that they were plasma, but they don’t seem light enough.

They look good. I have a similar pair, how to retighten the nose?

Unless you are fairly competent & confident you are not going to damage your Frame I would advocate reaching out to the experts on here.

You need the parts & the appropriate Repin Tool so straightaway you are looking at £150. You can get the service done guaranteed for roughly half that.

Depending on where in the world you are there people on here who will do it for reasonable Money.
