Didn't think there was any interest in ball anymore since there wasn't any action after the 1st round of the playoffs....

I have the Celtics winning as well, but after game 1, I now think it's going to be a quick series.

There’s interest alright, it’s just that the playoffs arent that interesting, especially in the west. The east though was very interesting!!
all the drama is in the east Except that miami/hawks series…

action that I was referring to was comments in this thread so I didn't think there was much interest from anyone. I do agree that the East had the more intriguing matchups, but not by much: no one saw Dallas in 7 over the Suns and few thought GSW in 5 in the WCF

Dubs gotta win in Boston first. That Porter 3 midway through the 3rd when Boston just hit back-to-back jacks to cut the lead to 6, was a backbreaker.

lol...... no way, it's very unpredictable, unlike basketball!

And the last 5 minutes of a NBA game can take a half hour, deliberate fouls and 50 timeouts...... now that's boring for ya!

unpredictability is just one of many factors when considering what sport is more enjoyable to watch: the NHL is the most unpredictable of the 4 major U.S sports but has traditionally ranked last in terms of popularity. Besides hockey is only unpredictable according to chalk: those who follow know that generally there's only 1 factor you need to consider when determining who's going to win the Cup.

regarding hte last 5 mins of a basketball game it has gotten better: only 2 timeouts allow in the last 2 or 3 mins of 4th, and no intention fouling on a bad free throw shooter in the last 2 mins

but okay to do it on a good one?

the fouls at the end always bring the games down imo

also, there is no need for more than 1 timeout per team a game......... there are a million TV timeouts and 3 breaks during the 4 quarters.

1 timeout! like in hockey.

I don't think you would intentionally foul a good free throw shooter because you would just be giving points away

I was in the other camp (when there was one) about intentional fouls: I actually didn't mind Hack-A-Shaq because it was drama: sending a bad free throw shooter at the line at the end of a tight game was nerve racking. Most wilted under the pressure, but there were those like Shaq who hit the free throws when the team needed it most. Also, the coach has to weigh the pro/cons of keeping that player in.

I do agree that the amount of timeouts do cause a basketball game to drag on at times, but 1 timeout would be incredibly drastic - you'd probably see players cramp up and get injured at a much higher clip. That would end up hurting ticket holders and viewership since star players would be out more often.

Don't know why Steph dove for that ball....this is the same team that knocked him out for the last weeks of the regular season on a similar play.

True....Or maybe it would force teams to utilize their entire bench..... making sure all players get to play and not just sit there as spectators. Actually be a part of a potential championship team!

That would ensure that your whole team need to be good, and not just have 1 or 2 superstars that plays constantly.

And you would perhaps see some no name player be the hero once in a while...... just an idea
