Oakley, known for its high-performance eyewear, first released sunglasses in 1984 with the "Factory Pilot Eyeshades," which resembled goggles, followed by the more casual "Frogskin" model in 1985.
Here's a more detailed timeline:
1975: Jim Jannard founded Oakley, initially focusing on motorcycle grips.
1980: Oakley expanded into goggles, including the "O-Frame" design, which later became the basis for their sunglasses.
1983: Oakley began selling ski goggles.
1984: The first Oakley sunglasses, the "Factory Pilot Eyeshades," were released, resembling goggles and designed for sports.
1985: The "Oakley Frogskin" model, a more casual sunglass style, was introduced.
1995: Oakley went public, raising $230 million.
2007: Oakley was acquired by Luxottica

Between 1975 and 1980 only sold motor cycle grips before starting with goggles than 4 years later the first sunglasses.

Good things come to those who wait 😁😁
Well Done Brother. These “Factory Pilot Guidance System” were my first pair of Oakley’s. ‘78 or 79.
Along with a Red and white pair.
