Flak 2.0 RX Lens

Hi all,

Just took delivery of my Flak 2.0 with RX lens (Prizm Road).
My old pair is a Flak Jacket with RX BIP.

Unfortunately the top outside corner of the lenses is in opaque glass, and it is really annoying when looking out to the sides. I did not have this on my old glasses. Is this standard?

Or is it just the 'bump' on the end of the arm that extends into the lens that is causing me to be distracted?

I am currently thinking of returning this frame, and trying to get a second Flak Jacket.

PS: Would love the Prizm Daily Polorized as an RX lens, but will probably just get a new flak jacket frame with Prizm road, and replace my old BIP with a new BIP lens....
10 years seems like a fair stint for a set of sun glasses!

Who made your lens?

Take a picture of the issue.

This was supplied by OPSM in Sydney Australia, but I had assumed Oakley themselves make the lenses.

See the framing around the lens.

Those are authentic and totally normal.
Give yourself more time to adjust. Try to remember your optician and oakley worked hard on those for you. I wouldn't consider that a reason to return.

Oakley lenses have the dye inherent in the "plastic". So if the lenses are thin in RX near center they'll be lighter in color, then on edges where thicker the tint will look darker. So where they bevel to fit the lens in the frames notch is much lighter in color. Our brains are smart enough to learn to tune this out.

I really loved the lenses, and hate wasting people's time, but the Flak 2.0 RX lens was a downgrade to the standard Flak Jacket lens I currently have. I will be buying a second flak jacket and getting the Prizm Roads made for them. Unfortunately, I really found the view to the sides too distracting.
