Hey whats up guys and I hope you are having a great weekend?! I wanted to post a discussion on here about advertising our authentic collections on Ebay. I have been doing quite alot of research and it looks like there is quite a few "look-a-likes" shall we say on there. Even some of the more complex models like the Carbon Shifts (that I am a big fan of) are popping up and if you didnt know the 2017 OEM specifics they would be near impossible to tell apart??

I have recently opened a store "authenticfast2u" on there to test the water and have 3 auctions from my collection but maybe its harder to compete with the 100% feedback and hugh sales of the big boys on there.

Mainly though what do you think of Ebay seemingly allowing the fakers on there?

Yeah, eBay is a place where you'll find lots of fakes, but sometimes you'll find some goodies there too.
I guess eBay doesn't have a policy when it comes to selling anything fake, and Oakley is no exception.
You can always refer to the people here to make sure that, whatever you do find, is in fact an authentic pair.
I'd still be wary though, eBay is a sketchy place.

Most of my stuff, Ì've bought from eBay. But it definitely as changed over the 23 years I've been using it. Apart from the increase in their takings, it has also become awash with fakes, which have become more accurate(but still FAKES). I can manage to get some steals, still, but nowhere the amounts which presented themselves, say a decade ago. Just be careful and if you're unsure, ask here, in the correct section.

Your right if you know what to look for your covered. At this point I decided to open an account and try to sell a few items to see how it goes....I only ship to USA due to customs and will always check the feedback of buyers (even with a new store my feedback is 0!) authenticfast2u is my store if you want to check them out. Anyways just be careful on other listing as these fakers are getting so close now that some you would not know until you can inspect them. Thanks for the feedback guys appreciate you1

Like it or not eBay is the engine behind the hobby and without it we would be allot more scattered a group. True that it is a place full of pitfalls but as long as you know what you are doing and do research but most importantly follow your gut feeling on items then you will be ok. I say follow your gut cause if something just does not seem right then I bet 100% it is not.

Back when this place was full of fashionista bullies and I could care less to be a part of the OF environment eBay was THE place I did EVERYTHING and back then fees were 8% and the rules were as wide open as the wild west. There was more potential for scams back then but it was allot more fun. The Oakley search board was always moving with new stuff being posted and it ranged from dirt cheap to ridiculous. These days ebay has changed the algorithm so much that a person who finds a juliet they forgot about and takes it to ebay is told it is worth $300 so they ask for $400. Back then it was price it for what it was worth to you so there was a non stop flow of Juliets at $80-$100 and everything else was coming and going to at great prices. $300 MM watches, $200 Romeos, Etc etc. I made more money most weeks grabbing stuff at under value and reselling at true value that I almost gave up my job. Glad I did not cause those days are gone.

Today it is a OK place to find stuff. The board doesn't move and what gets posted is 90% blah or fake or overpriced. There are still good deals that happen but not enough to commit the time to watching the board every waking hour. There are also other platforms now like Mercari and Poshmark and a few others I won't mention cause you gotta find them yourself LOL! Point is the market is more spread out. All the sites have their faults and value and none are perfect. You can get scammed right here on O Forum just the same as those sites so be smart or know your shyt before you pull triggers and never pull a trigger in excitement without taking a few seconds to consider it might not be legit or as good as it sounds.

Hey Ru, I agree totally and having done alot of sales back in the day it was a pleasure to scout around and try to find the gems! Today there is so much AI and automated descriptions that you really have to trust your gut. Intuition is one of our super powers so use it for anything your not sure of!
