Matte Rootbeer Finish

Is the matte finish on this sprayed on or a result of a treatment to the plastic?

I believe it is a treatment of the plastic.

I have a matte rootbeer Holbrook that I've been banging around, no signs of anything bad with it... I think it would be the same as a matte clear frame, which is no a painted finish.

Mine look and feel very durable on my straights , no paint look at all
