New Element

I would probably say be patient, have an inkling that it may happen, just won't know exactly when.

Full metal frame, yes we are all waiting for a first release something nutz, keeping those fingers cross for that day to happen soon.
I am assuming the metal frame is still a ways out due to production costs. But then again their stuff isnt the most affordable either. No more or less than O' sport O' Matter frames. So who knows.

They are probably still experimenting with material options. They are not going to just come out and be a clone of whats used today. So that means Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, X-Metal, and C5 style materials are all off the table if they are going to be different. So I dont know what they would build a metal frame option from thats cost effective to make and sell. There are lots of options though that are cheap by ounce compared to whats used today.

Do concur with you on this, not so much about the metal available to them, but more of the tooling and new casting mold costs to get it up and running is where it would be at, they already have a proprietary blend of alloy that they use, so just a matter of time is the inevitable question. Doesn't have to be X-metal, but just some nice designs is all I am hanging for.

Seems like there is a lot coming this year. Getting some following has been critical I think. The costs to start the business have to be crazy, yes I know Jim is a billionaire…. But….

Frankly I am excited. Not a huge shield guy by 2 new frames in a few months is pretty burly for a boutique outfit like this. I am glad to have been in on day one and look forward to further growth!

I’d be happy if they just gave us anything a little mad science like, like a simple plastic “Moon” type frame. They are playing it too safe and now they’re not even doing anything new with arguably the most popular frame “Jigawatt”
While I like the Jigawatt the most, I don't think its the most popular. I would wager the most popular is the Business &/or Pleasure lines. (has the most variants to it ='ing highest interest)

I think the Jigawatt is the most aesthetically designed pleasing to me, as it both wraps around the head, and has some more aggressive elements to it.

I've never been a fan of the Holbrook / Frogskin flat front types of frames, but I believe those are the most popular Oakley frames they made...

Yeah the tooling or casting process is a big factor. In the Navy I used to work with our metal casters who would fabricate parts for locks etc. Really neat skill to have, but production costs have to be right in the business world obviously to do this. And we also now have 3D printed metal to consider as well.

I toured SpaceX and saw how they do 3D printed metal parts for the shuttles. Thats some neat tech. Probably not cost friendly in how Elon does it but still.

I would agree. the Wayfare lifestyle frame is very bland to me and always has been. But its very typical across the board because of the popularity of those types of styles even though I think they are uninspiring. At least M has put some unique elements into theres where I cant tell the difference between most Warby Parker trash and other Wayfare designs from big name brands O or otherwise. Until I get to the lens and color variety.

As someone who wears a lot of shields I am excited to see this in person once they full unveil and how if at all we may be able to customize them in the future.

Shields are great for lots of things especially outdoors regarding sports and such.

I am very much still hungering for a metal frame. But great things come to those who wait.
