No US import tax for packages under $800 (unless it’s from China/HK)

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to confirm this for anyone here in the U.S. receiving packages from abroad.

I read that the U.S. de minimis threshold is $800, meaning that shipments valued under $800 are not subject to import tax or duty when entering the country.

So if someone’s shipping to you from places like Dubai, you should be in the clear — no customs duty or tax as long as the declared value is below $800.

Is this correct?

In my experience the U.S. de minimis threshold of $800 is still in play so long as the shipment is being accepted by USPS in US. In the past when I've opted for Fedex or UPS, I always get bill in mail regarding brokerage importing fees even if the package was under the $800 threshold.

Thank you so much for the information, Sir! have a great day!
