Maybe because "The Jim Jannard Corporation" didn't sound like a cool name?

inspired by the English Setter belonging to founder Jim Jannard, whose name was Oakley Anne. Jannard started the company in 1975, and although he later named it after his dog, he originally began with motorcycle parts before expanding to eyewear.
