Midnight Collection is blacked out, the icons are dark. The vanilla Straightback has platinum icons, or whatever they call that white colour.

The lenses are the same between those two, the Oakley site just sucks with visual renders that aren't "real." Polished black is shiny, as the name suggests. Black Ink is a translucent frame, it's not obvious. If you hold it up to light, you can see through it. To a casual glance, it looks like polished black. The website photos show off (poorly) how black ink is. In the 'folded' pic you can see some light coming through the hinge gaps, and in the 'side view' you can see the icons and their mounting pips from the back on the far stem.

Prizm is Oakley's marketing name for their contrast-enhancing dye for lenses, it is independent of any other lens features. "Black" on a lens is an Iridium anti-glare reflective layer, an observer won't be able to see through the lens to your eyes in most conditions, and it doesn't futz with colour rendition...it darkens the lens a bit and looks cool. Polarized is another independent feature that reduces glare via a layer in the lens. You can get lenses with any combination of these three traits. To answer you question directly, no, Prizm Polarized (Grey is the lens with no Iridium) is not the same as Black Polarized (with or without Prizm).

The Straightback Midnight frame is non-transparent polished black and the Black Ink frame is somewhat transparent. Polished black is "shiney black" with a reflective coating on top since the color black doesn't bounce back light.
Which frame looks better is a personal preference that has to be made by you. I prefer matte black over polished black but this is my personal preference.

Prizm Black Polarized is also mirrored but it's not the same as Black Iridium. I don't own black iridium but Prizm lenses provide additional contrast over non-Prizm lenses. I think that if possible you should try on both and look for yourself which lens you prefer.
I own Prizm Black Polarized and this is a really good lens for bright sunny days.

Hope this helps you making the right choice

thank you. the black polarized prism only comes on the midnight frame(shiney). i have the tort straightback with the tungstan prism lens and its excellent but wanted another color. I hated the blue lens and grayblue frame color
