Both Here and There
So I have been thinking about starting a thread like this after seeing the Worst Fake Watch thread do well in having fun, sharing knowledge, and consolidating a bunch of pictures of fake watches people can see and not get taken in the future. What I hope to see out of this thread is a wide range of knowledge from Frogs to C-Six's to Metals and the O Matters... Find a picture of a Foakley and show and tell us how you knew and it would be great to show it compared to OEM. Like Screws in the arm of a Plate or the Flathead pins on Juliets....

There is the idea and I hope I am not repeating a thread but if I am it needs resurrection anyway. I have to admit I can't tell you why a Splice is fake so if someone wants to start with that I would consider it a favor LOL! And yes I bought a fake Splice last year....

Here we have the ubiquitous 'Clam Shell Soft Vault', in Carbon Fibre

The colourway is visual different, there is no O Icon on the top centre and instead, we have the Text Icon on the centreish-front.

Note the shape is different also and to top it off, pull zipper doesn't have the O Icon.

Just look at the font they use on the earsocks of the fake splices. The og's are more stylized while the fakes are a very plain font. Usually they are way too mint. Also that ubiquitous cleaning cloth usually accompanies most fakes.

It seems like a certain style case like the one above or the carbon ones always accompany the fake. I decided I would not buy any splice that did not have a box and the one that fooled me came with a carbon case so I’ve been using that as a tell…

So I have the JP Montoya Splice and only that one... It was ALLOT lighter than the fake I bought which was my first clue I might have a fake which I threw out so it would never get confused for real again but wish I kept for this reason now. Can someone really schooled on the tells of a fake post up some pics of real vs fake with the spilce because I really want to buy more and collect that sector of models but there are sooooooo many damn fake Splices..... Yes I am Skeeerd

Ok so we will start with the king and use a Romeo
Going to point out the most obvious signs and the rest ask yourself if that gives you a “it’s real” feeling to see the front facing pic and then remember that feeling you get as an answer… if for now on you pay attention every time you get that feeling you will avoid buying most fakes.

There are several tells in the first pic but the first thing I look for are these three things
1.wrong nose bombs
2. Upside down X on bridge
3. Fake a$$ POLARIZED on lens

@XxRuMKaxX people have mentioned weight. It would be a good idea to post pics of scales with real and fake metals. Obviously there will be casting imperfections, but there should be a scale of tolerance. I can provide real measurement length and width photos if you want?

Weight is a dead give away but you don't get that until they are in your hands... @Maveryq13 hits a key point to spotting a fake and that it to look at the fluidity of the frame and if you see edges and blocky spots or a curve where there is not supposed to be one then its a good chance its a fake. That is what people describe as "it just doesn't feel right." When you look at a real X Metal is should make you spring wood

Fake oakleys are heavier and I believe that is just one sign. I haven't owned any fakes yet so measuring length and width is not enough. We also need to check for fake rubbers and fake lenses. There is still a lot of etching that is rare and prototypes. Some have debated front and back etching.
