Show me what makes this a Foakley....

Fake oakleys are heavier and I believe that is just one sign. I haven't owned any fakes yet so measuring length and width is not enough. We also need to check for fake rubbers and fake lenses. There is still a lot of etching that is rare and prototypes. Some have debated front and back etching.
Ive had a couple make it to my hands only to be returned because I will chance it with risky listings on ebay since they cover fakes being returned. My last one though came off Poshmark and was a XX that was so convincing I feel for the pictures. Before I even opened the box I said to myself it had to be either a fake or she included a metal box. The glasses were actually really well made but would have been like wearing a brick on your nose it was so heavy. You could probably hurt someone if you threw them at them. She was just a surprised and accommodated the return which is the usual ending to these scenarios. 9 times out of 10 it was something they picked up thrift shopping and they just didnt know how to tell what is fake and real.

Ok so we will start with the king and use a Romeo
Going to point out the most obvious signs and the rest ask yourself if that gives you a “it’s real” feeling to see the front facing pic and then remember that feeling you get as an answer… if for now on you pay attention every time you get that feeling you will avoid buying most fakes.

There are several tells in the first pic but the first thing I look for are these three things
1.wrong nose bombs
2. Upside down X on bridge
3. Fake a$$ POLARIZED on lens

You forgot the biggest tell of ‘em all, the flared out end of the ear stems on R1, Juliet, XX, Mars, Penny. If you see that, run for the hills.

Technically the XS has a tiny flare at the very tip of the ear stem but nothing as drastic as the fakes.

Fake Holbrook metal vs. three real Holbrook metal
Black frame with yellow icon is fake

Weight is a dead give away but you don't get that until they are in your hands... @Maveryq13 hits a key point to spotting a fake and that it to look at the fluidity of the frame and if you see edges and blocky spots or a curve where there is not supposed to be one then its a good chance its a fake. That is what people describe as "it just doesn't feel right." When you look at a real X Metal is should make you spring wood
Yeah, it's like watching season 4 of The Boys; something's definitely off..

X-Metal wise, the weight is definitely one of the easiest tells…but as noted ya got it in your hands at that point. No C-Ring split or C-Rings at all, Flat lenses, Flared arms is also a good one…I only have one example of a fake at the moment. A replica MJ and it weights a ton.

I did get one fake Plate from eekBay before I knew the screw inside the arm tell. Luckily eBay refunded me the purchase price.
