What part is it that doesn't work for you? The valve entirely or the carbon? I can't wrap my head around why the new valves dont get much love.

In this case, it's both. Maybe the light isn't hitting it right.

Not feeling the new Valve, maybe a real life look is needed. But it didn't trigger any desire for me.
