Yes the finish is durable, I had an idiot t-bone me at 40 mph wearing a pair of SJ-2's I got from @Rick58 and glass shattered and went all through my head....the frame came out with 1 only spot that a piece stuck in while the lenses were completely ******.

If you want a custom pair, don't hesitate... do it. I recommend starting with a pair that already has wear or scratches, but is still structurally sound.

I have custom pairs from 5 different customizers here on the OF, 4 of which who do paintwork, and they've all held up brilliantly with normal, careful use. Granted, if you throw any pair of glasses around, it's going to take on wear and tear.

I'm really happy with the majority of the custom work I've had done; it's helped me develop my collection to a level I never expected to reach.
