Yep! We had a boxer that had two separate rounds of chemo, 1 oral meds and 1 iv chemo. Then also had to have radiation. He was the best dog anyone could've asked for too! We finally lost him to a tumor on his heart that was inoperable. He did have open heart surgery though to remove the sac around the heart to relieve pressure. He was tough as hell!!
The lil guy here has never had any health issues until recently. He's got two malignant mast cell tumors that we're treating. Lord willing the chemo will work well enough and then surgery could be a possibility. He's 15 in April! Been a really sweet great buddy for a lot of years and we just do the best we can. Needless to say no new Oaks for a while!!
We do the best we can for our babies. We would've done more for the boxer but there was just nothing left for us to do. The two year anniversary of his passing was yesterday. We also lost our oldest around that same time. She was a min-pin and was diabetic with chronic pancreatitis. We lost her weeks before we lost the boxer. Absolute toughest time of our lives!! But then later that year my wife found the cat and we couldn't rid of it so he wound up being kept....life changed forever, lol. Our babies are very well taken care of and spoiled rotten! Everyone says the cat hit the jackpot when my wife found him, lol. He don't know how good he's got it.

Boxers are number 2 on the lists of dog breeds predisposed to cancer. At the oncology offices there is a ton of photos of boxers. Golden Retriever is only breed that is worse. We took in our boxer as a puppy because our neighbors that found him couldn't afford to take him to the vet so we took him in not knowing how prone boxers are to cancer. We sure know now!Sorry to hear all the sad stories, but sounds like you gave them a good life. We had a Boxer also that we lost about 4yrs ago now. He was 12, so he was around for quite a while, but towards the end he developed a large inoperable tumor on one of his legs. He was just too old. We loved him. He was a big part of the family. Hope your other dog does well. Wishing the best for you.
On a side note, it's kind of odd that you have had several dogs with cancer. Could it be environmental? Maybe something to look at.

Min-pins are predisposed to mast cell tumors specifically, which is what our lil guy has now.
Thanks for the best wishes!
