It is less well known, that the 1st 1,000 Ruby Penny's were the Official X-Men 2 Tie-In and the 1st 5,000 Juliet Rubys were the Official X-Men Tie-In release. I believe the 1st Generation were made using multiple layers. However, due to cost, they cut down the layers used. It was rumoured to have a 64% (approx)success rate.

Indeed! Another lesser know fact is the Ruby Juliet were initially offered for $300 as the first model to have Ruby Iridium. Oakley increased it to $400 after a while because of the cost and wastage to make the lens.

I remember the first time I saw a pair of Ruby Juliets, back in 2000. In the Sydney C.B.D., Harbour Bridge Oakley store. It blew my mind, but I didn't buy them: at the time they were just too 'flashy' for me...
