Photographing lenses

If you focus on the lens, make sure you are using an aperture of at least F8 as the frame will be out of focus. Best time for outdoor photo's of your Oakley's is summer as the sun is high and you get the best reflection from the lenses. Some pictures taken in the summer here.

You can also create a shadow box for a couple dollars. A box some usb lights and tissue paper and a piece of white Bristol board.

DSLR’s won’t pick up scratches in the day time...even with $5000 camera equipment, you have to manipulate the light to get the scratches to show up...

I can take a gashed up lens and take a picture of it outside and it will look NIB...

@cjdoesreef does it right - indirect light that FILLS the scratches, gashes and pock marks is how you get the scratches to show up...
