2015 NBA Playoffs and Finals Thread

fawlking Spurs.......

they ruin everyone's lives.......

Morey is pretty low-key during the offseason and then all of a sudden a report comes out that we have just landed Dwight or Harden....

he's always operated like that - it wouldn't surprise me if we get another real solid piece within a couple of months......

Everybody has to play uptempo like GSW to beat the Spurs. They are the same team with Aldridge and West.

Cavs just signed Mo Williams last night! He will be a great backup PG to Kyrie. I'm pumped about this signing because he was a huge fan favorite when he played in Cleveland before.
WOW THATS IS BIG DEAL MO WILLIAMS LOL and yet they have no shooting guard. They are the fave in the east no doubt but winning it all is another story.

I heard they are trying to get Joe Johnson, but it's quite complicated deal involving Haywood.

Yup saw that. If they land him that would be great. They might have a shot. He is not a star player but a great role player they badly need a body on that possition.

The Clips offered 5 years $109 million the Mavs can only offer 4 years 81 million. Leaves 1 year and $28 million on the table. Even with no state tax I am sure he is leaving money at risk with that 5th year.
He will slow down in 4 years and I would doubt that he will get another Max deal after this 4 year deal. He will be 31 years old by then (I think) - Risky. The guy is a great player. Good for Mark Cuban and Mavs fans.
It's business.
The reports from people who actually know him (read: not ESPN) were always that he was looking for a short term contract so that he could sign another deal, similar to what Lebron has done. Obviously with a true max deal (years and $$$) he'd make more. But, the final year or two is often player/team options and if you are past your prime then you aren't gonna get jack. Here's a graphic showing just how much money you lose playing in Cali vs Texas, with accurate numbers from people who understand the cap a hell of a lot better than I do-

Cavs were looking at Joe Johnson, but I think that has faded away. They are now interested in Jamal Crawford from the Clippers. It will work out well for us if we only have to get rid of Haywood. The Johnson trade would require getting rid of Andy, who I personally really like.

There have been talks we are still interested in JR Smith and we will re-sign Delly as well. JR wants a longer commitment than a year and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Once we lock Tristan Thompson down I will feel good. I just don't know if $80 million for 5 years is what I would want to pay him. However, if it gets us to keep him then whatever.

(loosely adapted from a Chris Rock bit...)

What's the difference between rich and wealthy? The guy getting the $80 million contract, he's rich. The guy signing those paychecks, he's wealthy... ;)
