I know plenty of Indians who took offence to your PM's cultural appropriation so I wouldn't call it "vaguely insulting" at all.

Well, i went over this topic with the Indian side of my family. They laughed and shook their heads and all agreed malicious intent is generally required to be culturally offensive. The PM is a bit of a dummy and a keener, nothing more nothing less.
