Any Sneakerheads In The House?

I've shown them before, but since you asked. I got everything from both collections

This week has been a few purchases I didn't totally expect to make

Anta Kai 1 "KAI-leidoscope"
I wanted a more black pair as my potential long term collection pair. Might let go of my previous multicolor pair. I haven't found this the most perfect performance pair, but reliable in a variety of ways.

Kobe 8 Protro "Hollywood Nights"

Seems the release this week was the most accessible it has ever been since his passing. This is as close to "sitting" as it has gotten. Trying half-size-up because my regular size on my previous pair this year just wasn't working out too well in action.

Fila Grant Hill 2 "25th Anniversary"

Been meaning to get one of these for some time. Leather is pretty good. Whole shoe wears pretty good although there's a lot of vertical space in there.

I remember when Fila were the hypebeast shoe and now there are only cheap shoes. Happy you scored some nice looking hypebeasts.

Anta Kai 1 Speed

Has a familiar wear experience as the regular Kai 1 but tweaked with less compression in the midsole and different outsole profile. Both of which I prefer.

But couldn't write off acquiring at least one more Kai 1. I probably wouldn't have multiple pairs if this all-black was made available to me first.

Really thought my first retro would be a 4, 5, or 11. Finish won me over here. Tumbled synthetic leather (?) and the suede were on point as well as the stitching. Some glue stains, but in my experience they naturally drop off. Helped that I grabbed these early enough to have a chance to inspect some pairs. Only flaw is the tongue pattern isn't aligned properly on one show, but it's not killing me vs the other flaws I saw in other pairs.

Fits narrow as I hoped so the lace row isn't all bunched up. Toe box is stubbier than the OG but still some room imo.

Looked like I still had a shot at the metallic V's, and they're clean in person, but $60 more and they probably wouldn't pass at work. In general, paying this much for obsolete sneakers will hardly ever make sense, but I had to do it at least once.

August 13, 2016 was a long time ago.
My state of mind then vs. now with sneakers is more than miles apart. Saying I'd be spending retail on retro sneakers "at least once", like I was hardly gonna do it again, aged horribly.

That was the first pair of retros I could acquire. I still have them. One of the eyelets detached from the upper but they'll still survive wears. Over the years I didn't have to worry about whether I could wear a pair at work. Privileged to say affording a pair of sneakers became the least of my worries, although this + car stuff has probably kept me from some other things in life.

While I do still look upon this specific colorway with the same fondness as I originally did, I never thought if/when I could see myself with the OG combo of the Black/Red pair (2018), and now the White/Black Toe colorway. It just took a couple hundred pairs in between to see this through.

The White/Black Toe retro is reminiscent of that Indiglo pair from 2016 - a lot of hit and miss in QC, and overall the material quality comes off like Nike forgot this was overdue in their wave of re-releases. I've been super selective about wearing my Black/Red pair, because I'd cringe at ruining the metallic red underside, but these are like starting over with when a Jordan 14 was my first and only pair to wear.

Dunk High Wu Tang

One of those releases I wasn't dying to have but if I hit, then I rock.

Anta Shockwave 6 Pro

Nike still makes functional stuff. Adidas has gems in their signatures, but overseas brands at the moment are more compelling. There's a higher perceived concentration towards functional design.
