Any Sneakerheads In The House?

IMG_2743.JPG

After years of asking my buddy finally sold me these from his collection. I had a fake pair in highschool with the black stitching on the heel tab (IYKYK). Not sure if these still fit my style but they have a special place in my heart.

Got back from my trip overseas. First thing I do is see if my car went to s*** so I go for a drive to a mall. Get milk tea, and in the meantime walk around while I finish drinking it. See this on the shelf. Last one my size, Returned 45min before I stepped in..

Figured why tf not. Talk about fate. I'll be honest. I never tried for this pair as 1) knew a lot of people were going to get it and wear it, and 2) I just didn't expect to enjoy them. Wrong on the second part. I know it varies pair-to-pair but fortunately I got a soft leather example. These things feel much lighter on foot than expected. Fit really well although I'll have the narrowest lacing you'll see on the street. Breaking these in already. I was dead wrong about these.

Was also wrong on their availability. They didn't exactly sit, and surely wasn't expecting to see these today, in the store.

I'm finding that to be the case with the Royal 13, which I copped because I got the reserve at Nike+. I did see those in person and still on the fence about keeping my pair. I know what a 13 is like already. Rather have the Flints or Black Toes, but I'm surprised that I didn't even see an oddball size pair sitting in my local mall....so really don't know. I didn't find the materials on par with this 3, and I spent way to much this month. Fell for that February trap.

over 6 years later and I acquired the 2024 retro of the Jordan 3 "Black Cement"

2018 pair has been going legit strong with being one of, if not the prime beater pair for me. So on top of being a repeat purchase, the excitement for me gets toned down because it's prospectively a continuation of of that role — more than it is a prized/grail acquisition. That being said, it's effectively an essential for me. When it comes down to it, this has been one of my staple wears for the street. I know it's been the case for many people long before me, but I didn't feed into that for my original purchase. I just called it a fate pick up that day and version of history wrote itself. It became a personal top pair for me naturally by being so wearable and robust, instead of something I came into lusting for.

The Jordan 3 was what kept Jordan from leaving the brand and the start of the Jumpman logo, as well as Tinker Hatfield's first mark on the signature line. Maybe at the end of the day, it objectively is the pinnacle representation of his brand line, and it was seemingly much easier to acquire this time around.

The 2024 pair overall feels more refined in material grade, craftmanship, and shape, which may be the deciding factor to actually just clean up and retire the 2018's. Hopefully, in however many years, I'm again onto the next re-release.

Hopefully I can score a pair tomorrow at retail. If not I'll probably pay resell on this pair if it's not insane. 3's are my favorite and I don't have a pair of the black cements yet. The cool grey and the fears are the pairs I wear the most out of all my shoes. Sucks I have to work tomorrow so I'm gonna have to try to score a pair on a phone while I'm working construction.

Finish line worked. I've never had a W when trying to on a job site before.
Hard to tell if there's a shift in demand or shift in production volume. Been seeing a lot of happy outcomes this time around. Definitely a good time when it seems most people who want the pair can eat.

Mine came in yesterday. Pretty happy to finally have a pair of BC3's after I missed the 2018 release. I think i still like my fear 3's the best of my 3's, but these are sweet.

Of course the second these showed up i noticed people putting videos up of early looks at the Black Cat 3's dropping in January. those are gonna be a must have. it never ends. lol.

Got the Columbia 11's otw, which may cap off my year.

Next year may main goals are Black/Red 1's, and White Cement 4's. The list can get longer because Nike is going pretty hard at it to recover and for the 40th anniversary; but if I had to really go lean, it may boil down to those two. I just have to look at everything else like icing (even tho I just don't need more sneakers in the first place lol).

My current rule is it has to be cool enough to knock another pair out of my display boxes for me to buy if it's not shoes for work or daily wear. The down side is the 3's and 5's are slowly taking over.

Maybe...hopefully last pickups of the year

Jordan 11 "Legend Blue" from the Shock Drop. This completes my mini collection of original release trio of the Jordan 11, with the Black/Red, and White/Black/Concord (well, the "45" version).
If it weren't for that, I'm pretty iffy about the retail asking price, considering the so-so material quality and standard (albeit supposedly OG) packaging.

Adidas AE1 Mid "Charcoal MX"/"Ascent

I think the design and campaign for this signature debut was pretty solid. Shoe offers a lot, but also has some peeves. However, it appears to have been very successful in marketing and sales. I mean I think the Lows were a step down from the Mids in terms of performance, but the aesthetic alone tempts me to grab other colorways.

Passed on these and definitely regret it. Mostly wear boosts for the comfort factor when not in dress shoes. Looked on GOAT and saw resell isn’t terrible on these. Still have a good bit of credit from previous sales so may decide to grab them. Out of curiosity, what would your top 5 shoes be?
