Sweet photo! Interesting they chose plasma for the penny. I know there is a debate on if it was x metal finsih or plasma finish in X2 in various scenes.

Those were Oakley’s props but not necessarily the frame color that made it into the movies. Here is the one they provided to the studio for X2....

Obviously that is not the color that is in the movie. Usually the studio makes the final decision and may change colours depending on what they need.

Here is the thread debating it all. It's my opinion they used different frames in different scenes which could have been XM sometimes and plasma sometimes.

I personally think it’s mostly lighting. Same frame with different lighting will show very different on screen.

Yeah, I figured that there wou ol d be a large discussion about it somewhere. Thanks! And I agree, there was probably multiple finished used (that were not done by oakley) because lighting and special effects can do weird things to anything in film.

There was also a picture posted on the o review a couple days back with a recent picture of the Cyclops actor wearing the Penny prop he swiped. Looked closed to the X-metal color.

old post but I hope your got the penny because the lenses alone cost 200 to make another 40+ to cut and they’re very very hard to get your hands on if you don’t know how to make them. Penny beater right now is 300+
